FROM FT. LAUDERDALE-HOLLYWOOD
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
A taxi ride
from the Main Passenger Terminal to the passenger service
counters of Island Air Charters should cost about $7.00 and
take about 5 minutes. Tell the driver that ISLAND AIR CHARTERS is
in the Sheltair Jet Center on the WEST side of the airport
(around Perimeter Road), located in the same pink and green building
as US Customs, right next to the CONTROL TOWER, and show
the driver these directions. Please
note that we are
NOT located on the Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport which is
a completely different airport located 10 miles further
north off of Commercial Boulevard, so if you see signs
during your 5 minute cab ride that read I-95 NORTH, you're going to the wrong
airport!
FROM I-95:
EXIT Griffin Road WEST to:
Ravenswood/Anglers Avenue
(which is the first traffic light to the west of I-95).
TURN RIGHT (NORTH) onto
Ravenswood/Anglers Avenue to Lee Wagener Boulevard
(the next traffic light).
(As you proceed north on Ravenswood, past the marinas and
just over the canal bridge, you'll notice The Rustic Inn
on your left .. smell those garlic crabs!)
From the
top of the I-95 overpass look straight ahead and
notice the airport control tower. Island Air Charters in
located in the Sheltair Jet Center in the shadow of the
airport control tower. Remember that!

Lee
Wagener Boulevard and the airport area around it have been under construction for
literally years, and is "sometimes" unusable from the
STOP SIGN at the bottom of
the I-95 overpass on the east (airport) side, all the
way to the control tower.
Currently,
Lee Wagener Boulevard is "open" so you can drive straight
ahead to the STOP SIGN
where Lee Wagener Boulevard ends at the base of the
control tower property.
 
You can read the 1050
painted on the building portico from the stop sign.
ISLAND AIR CHARTERS is located in building 1050
marked "Customs West" southeast of the
airport control tower.

the stop sign. Enter building 1050 under the portico through the sliding
glass doors and our passenger
service counters are located straight ahead in the
lobby area.
If Lee Wagener Boulevard is closed, since Island Air
Charters passenger service counters are located in the
Sheltair Aviation Services complex, just follow the dreaded detour signs
(below)
that change the route, it seems, on a somewhat daily basis
to the Sheltair complex and seek out the 1050 Building.
FROM FLORIDA TURNPIKE:
Exit Griffin Road east. Go
about 3 miles, then left onto Ravenswood/Angelers Avenue.
Now follow the same directions as above.
PARKING AT JET CENTER:
Overnight parking is $5.00
per day and is located across the street from the main
Sheltair Jet
Center buildings in the lot marked LONG TERM PARKING ONLY.
PARKING IN SPACES MARKED FAA, CUSTOMS, VISITOR 3 HOURS AND
BLUE PERMIT ONLY is prohibited. Your car may be towed
(very expensive!) by the Sheltair Jet Center if not parked in the
appropriate overnight parking areas. Now, the hardest part
of your trip is over.
There is a Hertz Car Rental drop-off and pick-up location
at the Sheltair Jet Center. Wayne at P.J.'s Gourmet Foods can be
reached at 954-214-0548 to do your grocery shopping,
packing and delivery to ISLAND AIR CHARTERS for your
vacation in the Bahamas.
Please remember to allow plenty of time for your drive to
ISLAND AIR CHARTERS. We request our passengers
check-in
at least one hour prior to departure time to perform
duties as required for international travel and insure an
on-time departure.
